MRS. SWEAT

I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. I am beginning my twenty-second year of teaching. For the last twelve years I have taught fourth, kindergarten, and sixth grades here at St. Joseph. Prior to St. Joseph, I taught grades two through five in the Duval County public school system and was a Media Specialist for three years. Yes, it does seem that I move around a lot, but I believe that God has called me to each position that I’ve had the privilege to fill. Having the experience will be an advantage to working the Media Center. I am enjoying my position as the St. Joseph Media Specialist or Librarian!

Every day that I have the privilege to teach at St. Joseph is a blessing to me. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to teach students about Jesus and our Catholic faith. As far as my Florida teaching certification, I am certified in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education (Grades 1-6), and Media Specialist (Grade K-12). I bleed garnet and gold since my Bachelor of Science degree is from FSU, however I did receive my Master of Education degree in Educational Media from the University of Florida (Not many people know this fact about me!).

I have four children. They are in grades ninth, eighth, fifth, and first here at St. Joseph. Needless to say, there is never a dull moment at the Sweat house.

My philosophy on running a school library is making it a warm and inviting atmosphere for all who enter.
